Michael Fassbender will reportedly play Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic

While we’ve already learned some interesting details about the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic from the recently leaked Sony Pictures files, it seems there’s still more to be gleaned from the company’s documents. As the Verge notes today, new emails have revealed the possible settings for the film, which include “two auditoriums, a restaurant, and a garage.”

Those locations were included in an email sent from screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, who, along with director Danny Boyle, will be taking the film to Universal Pictures for production after working with Sony on it for several years.

The movie has undergone a series of cast and crew changes. At first it was rumored that it would be directed by David Fincher and star Christian Bale. Both of those rumors ended up being debunked, and Danny Boyle was picked to direct instead, with Leonardo DiCaprio set to play Steve Jobs.

Eventually, DiCaprio dropped out of the picture, forcing Sony to reconsider its lead. Rumors once again appeared (and were even confirmed by Aaron Sorkin) that Christian Bale would be taking over the role. Sorkin had originally wanted Tom Cruise, but was apparently pleased the Bale’s selection.

However, even with Sorkin’s endorsement, Bale ended up bailing and current favorite Michael Fassbender entered talks to star in the movie.

Other casting rumors have also popped up, including Natalie Portman as Lisa Brennan-Jobs (which was quickly debunked when she declined the role). Jeff Daniels is reportedly being considered for the role of one-time Apple CEO John Sculley, and Seth Rogen is rumored to have been tapped as co-founder Steve Wozniak.
