Microsoft still shutting down Rooms, and this time they are serious

Microsoft’s Rooms feature, which was a form of micro-social networking which worked cross-platform was meant to shut down in March, but it seems Microsoft never got round to doing that.
Some-one eventually noticed however, and now Microsoft has sent out a new email with a new execution date â€" at the end of June 2015.
In the email Microsoft reminds users that most of their content will remain available except for chat history, but that chat will soon no longer work, and new users with new permissions will no longer be added.

An update on the end of support for Rooms You may previously have received an email from Windows Phone or seen news about the rooms feature for Windows Phone being discontinued soon. While we decided to keep it around a little longer than we’d originally planned, support for rooms will end in June 2015. Once support ends, you’ll still be able to view and use your room photo albums, calendars and notes â€" but you will no longer be able to create new rooms or have access to chats. An alternative solution that you could consider as rooms end of support nears is GroupMe. You can use GroupMe to keep in touch with groups of people who matter to you, and it has similar features to rooms, like group chats with shared photos and location. GroupMe is available to download today. The changes to rooms will differ depending on which version of Windows Phone you are using. In Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 After support for rooms ends in June 2015, you’ll still see your existing rooms on your Windows Phone 8 or 8.1. You’ll be able to view and use your room photo albums, calendars and notes on your phone. But you won’t be able to create new rooms or make membership or permissions changes to existing rooms. Additionally, you and other room members won’t be able to send any new room chat messages or create any new calendar events. In Windows 10 Insider Preview for phones Once you update to Windows 10 Insider Preview for phones, rooms will no longer show up on your phone. You’ll still be able to get to your photo albums, calendars and notes, either on the web or by using other apps on your phone. You won’t be able to see your chat history or send or receive any new chats, or create any new room calendar events. Note: If you have important info in your room chats that you want to keep, you should save a copy somewhere else before updating your phone beyond Windows Phone 8.1.
