Canadian rapper Drake has released an unexpected new mixtape album on iTunes, announcing it on Twitter as it went live. The album, entitled If youâre reading this itâs too late, was added to iTunes shortly before midnight ET â¦Â The album, tagged as hip-hop/rap, has 17 tracksâ"and it will come as no surprise to anyone that every one of them is flagged as having explicit lyrics. The album includes collaborations with hip-hop artist Travi$ Scott, RB singer PartyNextDoor and fellow rapper Lil Wayne, as well as the hit song 6 God.
The Washington Post notes that fans had been expecting a free mixtape, and speculates that Drake released If youâre reading this as a paid album to fulfill a contractual commitment to his label, Cash Money Records, in order to allow him to leave the label.
Drake hinted at the release of a new album with a short film this week. If youâre reading this costs $12.99 on iTunes.
