Chromebooks just got big. Acer's new gargantuan 15.6-inch Chromebook 15 is leading off its suite of releases for this year's CES, and it's sweeping up the award for Biggest, Cheapest Chromebook right off the bat.
The new Chromebook 15's big ol' display comes in two resolution flavors: Full HD 1920x1080 or 1366x768, the latter of which is probably gonna look preeeetty shitty at that size. Inside, the Chromebook 15 sports an as-yet-to-be-entirely-revealed 5th generation Intel chip, as opposed to the Nvidia K1 that the Acer Chromebook 13 had. Acer says this new brain lets the 15 chart in at 8 hours of battery life (we'll see). Prices start at $250. And though I haven't seen it in person yet, it looks like it has the same lovely body as its smaller twin, which is great news.Among Acer's other announcements are versions of the Chromebook 13 outfitted with touchscreens, a refresh of the fantastic Aspire S7 sporting new 5th generation Intel chips, new Aspire V Nitros that come with Intel's holodeck-like RealSense 3D built right in, and a full HD short-throw projector with Chromecast support built right in. CES proper hasn't started quite yet, but once it has we'll be checking these out in person, so stay tuned for more impressions.
