Windows Insider update believed to block XDA-Dev hack

Yesterday Microsoft pushed out an update to the Windows Insider app with no obvious changes, but we suspected at the time that the motive was to block the XDA-Developers spoofing hack, which we know Microsoft disapproved of.
Now WinSupersite has confirmed with their sources “this update now prevents the XDA hack from working and faking out the phone setup process by re-naming the device as one of the authorized handsets for the technical preview”.
As usual this will likely just be the start of a cat and mouse game between Microsoft and the hackers at XDA-Developers, but I think most of our readers would agree that patience is the best and safest solution overall.
Microsoft has said they expect to release new build on a monthly cycle, more or less, and that means we likely do not have to wait too long before the number of devices get increased, and we are delivered a hopefully more stable and full featured build.
