PCalc brings its calculator app to Apple Watch w/ Glance & Send to iPhone feature

TLA Systems has brought is popular calculator app to the Apple Watch today through the latest version of PCalc for iPhone. The PCalc Apple Watch app features a fully functional calculator for quickly crunching numbers from your watch â€" 1985 Casio-style like the similar Calcbot app â€" and similarly features a clever tip calculator that makes splitting the bill a cinch.
PCalc for Apple Watch also includes an app Glance that displays the most recent result from PCalc and serves as a shortcut to the calculator app from the watch face. Force Touching in PCalc on Apple Watch brings up a menu that includes a Send to iPhone feature as well.
While Apple includes a calculator app on the iPhone, it does not extend that to the Apple Watch. While it might seem like a throwback to the 80s, discretely calculating your tip and total at dinner has been a slick use of Apple Watch for me so far.

PCalc for iPhone with Apple Watch support is available on the App Store for $9.99. Version 3.4 is a free update to existing PCalc 3 for iPhone users.

Do you people realize how silly you will look calculating a tip on your tiny watch screen?!? (not to mention who over the age of 10 needs a calculator to come up with a decent tip)

    • spiralynth says: I’m obsessed with numbers … calculating things mostly. Even things that may not be traditionally quantifiable. I’m constantly doing some kind of calculation, mostly in my head. For example, right now, while I’m posting this, I’m wondering what kind of impact a $47 per hour bill rate increase will have on the mid, short and long term timelines of both the client and the talent. I can’t forget to factor in SEP IRA and other tax deductions for the independents as well as the S-Corps and LLCs. I don’t need exact numbers, just a close approximate.
Because I’m impatient and I like to multitask, especially when I’m sitting on the “throne” (as I proudly am now), instead of pulling away from this post and opening my calculator app on this iPad or having to waddle over to the bedroom to get my iPhone, I can confirm/verify or supplement what I’ve already done in my head right on my watch. It’s quick, useful and easy and I do it all the time. I couldn’t give a flying fu*ck how silly I do or don’t look. It works.
Anyway, this looks far better than Calcbot for the watch, but not $10 better.

  2. yojimbo007 says: Like it… Though it seems to have one bug ..
The send to iphone only updates the numbers in the app itself and not on iphones pulldown notification center menu.
Same with quick glance.. The phone showes the numbers in iphone app and not the pulldown notification center numbers.
Seens to be disconnect between app numbers on iphone and notification numbers in the notification center.
