It was only a matter of time before CES - that's the consumer electronics show, the largest of its kind - spread its wings and ventured to exhibit in China.
The sister show to the annual Las Vegas jamboree every January, the inaugural show in Shanghai this May is an altogether smaller venture at the beginnings of its life.
And we're on site to cover the weird, wonderful and downright wacky from the show floor.
In addition to Audi's driverless electric R8 e-tron supercar, complete with in-car web browsing, we expect to see a showcase of other tech presented for the Asian market.
But perhaps not from the big players that might be expected. Absent of the Samsungs, Panasonics, Sonys and so forth of this world, CES Asia is, according to Danny Shapiro, CEA president and CEO, all about innovation.
It's taken five years to get the show off the ground in "the city of the future". And while CES (Las Vegas) leads the TV space, MWC the mobile space, and IFA the home space, CES Asia needs to use its first year to embed its roots - only then can catapult itself forward, where it may yet become the platform for prominent Asia time-zone launches of the future.
But until then, keep eyes on these pages for a mixture of the fun, the foul and the fancy.
