Android: Xiaomi says it has 100 million active MIUI users

Xiaomi says it has 100 million active MIUI users

And there lies the problem for google's android. With android price of the smartphone market heading down to zero, every hardware oem's are now looking hard at where to go to make money. Every oem's are now realizing if you plan to survive long term in this market, you need to own the platform. Samsung is currently learning that now (the hard way). IOS is and never was google's main threat, Microsoft was, Apple's business model of only worrying about the high end made sure of that. Microsoft has the same ambition as google, this explain why google continues to support IOS (even better than their own platform half the time), but cut off Microsoft completely.
What you have now in the android camp is exactly what Tim Cook described back at D11 where he said android as a whole was not a "unified bunch." What has been happening while android was growing, google less (AOSP) android was taken a bigger bite out of the pie. Google depends on their services to learn more about you to serve you ads (Bread and Butter). It can't be good when just about every oem's want to create their own garden to serve their purposes. CM and its ceo are trying some type of (coup-d'etat) to serve their own purpose. 28% of android smartphone sales running android AOSP (forked) shipped came from China, and none (maybe a few) of them had google services.
Not sure what google can do because, they have clearly lost control of android and everyone wants their own piece to call their own. Meanwhile, Apple is grabbing all the profits. I am getting the impression, no one on the android camp is happy from Google, Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony. I maybe wrong, but you know what they say about "Money always ruins everything."
