Our chief complaint about quick chargers is that they're not small. In fact, they're big. Travel chargers should be smaller, right?
So if you're going throw a quick charger in your gear bag, you're either going to have to choose carefully (and that's assuming you've got more than one brand on you, and most folks won't), or you're going to want to possibly consider a travel charger. We've picked up one from Qmadix â"Â which is on Qualcomm's official list of quick-charge accessories â" and are taking it for a spin.

Here's the thing: This charger isn't really any smaller than the chargers you get directly from Samsung, Motorola or HTC. In fact, it's shaped differently â"Â more blocky â"Â and actually is a little bigger.
So what makes this a "travel" charger? The prongs that fit into the wall fold down nearly flush with the body of the charger. And for those who've ever stabbed themselves through a bag with a charger's prongs â" or, worse, impaled a laptop's display â" being able tuck them away out of sight is a big deal. In fact, for me, it's worth the beefier size.
This Qmadix charger comes with a 4-foot removable USB cable. It's flat, but thick, and there's a soft-white LED in the end that plugs into the charger itself. You'll get outputs of 5 volts at 1.5 amps, 9 volts at 1.5 amps, and 12 volts at 1 amp, depending on how your device determines it's time to charge. That's in line with the chargers you get from Motorola and HTC; Samsung also does 5 volts at 2 amps.
