It is the second day of the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and weâre back on the show floor to discover the diamonds in the rough. Noke, the worldâs first Bluetooth-enabled padlock, is one of those hidden gems. Noke replaces the nuisances of losing your keys or needing to remember random combinations with convenient unlocking over Bluetooth technology when your iPhone is within close range.
After downloading the official Noke app for iOS, Android or Windows Phone, the padlock will automatically find and pair with your Bluetooth 4.0 enabled smartphone. You can then unlock the padlock by simply being within close vicinity of it with your iPhone, even without removing your phone from your pocket or purse. If you donât have your iPhone on you, or run out of battery life, Noke also has an innovative Quick Click feature for unlocking based on a series of short and long taps on the padlockâs shank.
Noke has an ergonomic and strong design based on hardened steel and boron, and has four silicone gaskets and no external buttons for water resistance. The padlock also includes a built-in battery that lasts up to a year on a single charge and can be easily replaced without the need for tools. The official Noke companion app provides a comprehensive history of locking, unlocking, shares and revokes, alongside settings that can be customized.
Fuz Designs is currently accepting pre-orders for the Noke on the productâs official website for $59.99 in gray or black, and expects to begin fulfilling shipments in April. Free shipping is included in the United States, and international shipping starts at $4.99. The product was recently backed by $650,000 in funding as a Kickstarter project, well surpassing its $100,000 goal last September. An optional cable and bike mount are available.
