LG will be showing off its latest lineup of 4K UHD televisions at CES next week with the promise of richer colors, thinner screens, and Harmon/Kardon audio. Now if we could just get some decent 4K content already, we'll be set.
What's more, both of these systems require far less space than existing LED panels which means that the new sets will be nearly as slender as OLEDsâ"we're talking panel depths measured in millimeters, not inches. Additionally, the new lineup will sport local dimming for better contrast and deeper blacks as well as a new Natural Color feature to ensure highly accurate color reproduction.
Five of the modelsâ"UC9, UB9800, UF9500, UF9400, and UF8500â"will ship with LG's multi-channel ULTRA Surround System, developed with help from Harman/Kardon. They'll also include the faster-booting WebOS 2.0 Smart TV platform, an HVEC decoder (for watching streaming 4K) that supports up to 60 fps, and a spiffy upscaler algorithm that boosts current generation video signals to near UHD quality.
We'll have hands-on reports and first impressions of these sets direct from the show floor so stay tuned for updates.
